Clear Clamshell Containers
Clamshell packaging is a great way to package sandwiches, salads, and prepared meals. These clear clamshell containers make excellent deli containers, salad bar containers, and prepared foods packaging. These are made from PLA, a compostable plant-based bioplastic. This material is safe, non-toxic, and can handle food temperatures up to 110 degrees. For hot foods, consider our fiber take out boxes, which are oven and microwave safe.
Features of PLA Clamshell Containers:
- As light and strong as plastic
- Designed for stacking
- Not microwave safe
- Handles food temperatures up to 110 degrees
PLA clamshell packaging should be stored out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources in a temperature-controlled environment. PLA has a temp threshold of 110-120 degrees. The main cause for PLA items melting and warping are cases or sleeves being exposed to direct sunlight in very hot conditions. Or, being stored in a very hot kitchen, etc.
Once your products are delivered, make sure your PLA cups and lids are stored properly. For more info on PLA, check out our Guide to PLA.
